Mid-Level TSQL Programmer
Mid-Level TSQL Programmer Data Research Group
EUR/Monthly
3.8K - 5.6K

Job description

  • We need someone to write a lot of Transact SQL for our platform. The database is a complex system of roughly 400 tables, logically organized, but it will take a bit of time to get an understanding of the schema and its use.

  • We are onboarding new customers regularly to our system and we need someone to write and adjust existing sql scripts (Transact SQL) for this purpose. There are also custom requests that come up periodically from our clients that would require some additional time.

  • At present we can easily keep someone busy full time through the end of this year with the current workload and it would probably extend into next year as well. Following an evaluation period of six months, we are open to making the individual a full time / salaried personnel with benefits.

To achieve our mission, we need an experienced Product Manager who can make AdBlock more intuitive, accessible, and impactful for the millions of people who use it every day. You’ll be joining a small, collaborative team, and as our second Product Manager you’ll have the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on AdBlock’s future.

You’ll use your intuition, empathy for users, insights from market data, and customer feedback to craft a compelling product vision that showcases the privacy, security, and accessibility benefits of AdBlock. And you’ll be working with a cross-functional team of engineers, product designers, and customer support to help bring that vision to life.

Ultimately, success in this role is measured by increased engagement with existing features, and adoption of new features you help create within AdBlock.

You Have:

  • A passion for giving users control of their web experience, from blocking ads and protecting user privacy, to control over the many distractions that plague the modern web.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; you enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • The ability to translate user feedback, customer conversations, survey results, and analytics into product features that resonate with our users.

  • An analytical mindset and experience using A/B tests to drive adoption of new features, improve engagement with existing features, or reduce churn.

  • An innate curiosity; you love learning how things work and you’re creative in how you approach and solve problems.

  • The ability to connect business strategies, available technologies, and an evolving ecosystem to deliver innovative new features.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with subscription software or freemium products

  • Experience collecting user feedback through a variety of channels

  • The ability to write your own scripts to conduct data analysis and familiarity with SQL

What You’ll Do:

  • In the first month, you’ll become well-versed in our products and product strategy. You’ll develop a perspective on the ad blocking and privacy ecosystems. You’ll engage with users to understand their needs and current pain points and begin to craft a product vision.

  • By your third month, you’ll have helped launch your first feature to AdBlock users, have developed a deeper understanding of our different revenue streams, and be working with design, engineering, and support to develop new ways to improve AdBlock.

  • By month six, you’ll be fluent in the challenges and opportunities in the ad blocking ecosystem across desktop and mobile, and you’ll be working closely with the team to help set and bring to life AdBlock’s long-term roadmap.

Qualifications

  • You have at least 3 years of product management experience.

  • You have experience shipping successful software products and features alongside designers and engineers.

  • You have experience designing, refining, and using A/B tests to help make data-driven decisions.

Why You’ll Love AdBlock

  • Competitive Salary: Our salaries are based on Radford data, a widely-used global compensation benchmark, to ensure we provide competitive pay. We don’t adjust your salary based on where you live, so you can live wherever you like in North America, and enjoy the same salary. The range for this role is $95,000 to $125,000.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: We offer a benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance coverage, 401K matching, unlimited time off, and paid parental leave.

  • Professional Growth: We give team members the autonomy to do their best work. Because we’re a small team, you’ll be able to immediately see the impact of your work and grow with the team. We also support professional development with training, coaching, and regular feedback.

  • Fully Distributed Community: You’ll be able to work 100% remotely, yet remain well-connected to your colleagues. When we’re not in the midst of a pandemic, we meet twice a year for a week-long offsite. In the last 18 months we’ve visited San Diego, Charleston, and Nashville together as a team.

  • Open Vacation Policy: We encourage all AdBlock employees to take the time they need for vacation, to spend time with their families, and to stay healthy. We don’t limit how many days our employees can take off each year.

  • Office Equipment: We’ll provide you with a MacBook or Windows laptop or desktop and whatever other equipment you need to work effectively.

We’d Love to Work With You!

We’re serious about our work but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We want AdBlock to be a place where people love their work, like their co-workers, and treat everyone with respect and empathy.

We’re a small team and we believe our strength comes from our diversity. We strive to create an inclusive environment where differences in race, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, political and religious affiliation, socioeconomic background, cultural background, geographic location, disabilities and abilities, relationship status, veteran status, and age only make us stronger.

Director, Windows Engineer
Director, Windows Engineer DuckDuckGo
EUR/Monthly
14.3K - 14.3K

We are a diverse and fully distributed team from around the world, working toward our shared vision to raise the standard of trust online. Join us as a Director, Windows Engineer to help shape DuckDuckGo's products. As part of our growing team, you will collaborate with team members at all levels to bring new products to market. Examples of projects you might work on include leading the development of consumer privacy applications on Windows. You will take direct responsibility for all aspects related to products built on Windows, build new features, drive improvements, and own product maintenance. We fully-remote and empower our team to be self-directed and self-motivated in their projects. If you'd thrive in that environment, and our core values resonate with you -- build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction -- you'll fit right in!

What you will do:

  • Lead projects from proposal through postmortem, assessing vague problems, proposing high impact solutions, and executing them against a set of success criteria.

  • Lead development of consumer privacy applications on Windows, with moderate to low oversight.

  • Lead technical design and architecture discussions, and get buy-in among groups of opinionated stakeholders.

  • Advise members of the team in both functional and career growth.

  • Write pragmatic, performant, and testable C++ and C# code that works consistently across Windows devices.

  • Be a subject matter expert at the company in C++, C# and the Windows application development ecosystem.

  • Take privacy and user experience into consideration throughout the engineering process.

What we are looking for:

  • Advanced level of C++ and C# expertise.

  • Advanced level of Windows application development architecture expertise (e.g. Win32 apps, WPF apps)

  • Experience leading at least one large consumer facing Windows desktop application, serving hundreds of thousands or millions of users.

  • Experience leading technical architecture decisions for complex products.

  • Deep understanding of MV* concepts.

  • Comfortable learning new languages and ideas.

  • Experience collaborating with engineers working on other platforms (e.g. macOS, Android, iOS)

  • Experience collaborating with product/design to build polished consumer facing products.

  • Exceptional project management skills.

  • Creative problem solvers and risk takers. You like to take initiative to push projects forward and know when to involve others.

Other things to know:

  • While we leverage specific job titles for hiring purposes, we do not use them internally. Instead, we follow our own professional levels, with expectations for each level clearly defined across several dimensions.

  • We are a small, remote team distributed across time zones, and we rely on a variety of communication tools throughout the day. You should feel comfortable with the intricacies of this type of work situation.

  • Sometimes we meet up! Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each ~4-5 days).

  • We believe in a focused approach to collaboration, where individual team members work on a single top priority at a time, each supporting larger, company-wide objectives. This philosophy serves to impact our vision to raise the standard of trust online.

  • Our work philosophy centers on empowered project management. All team members have opportunities to run projects.

  • Transparency supports individual and team success at DuckDuckGo. We encourage everyone to participate in areas of interest throughout the company. Anyone and everyone can (and should) ask questions and offer feedback about our products and internal projects.

  • We strive to exemplify our values (build trust, question assumptions, and validate direction) in everything we do.

  • While this is a full-time job, we offer a flexible work arrangement with no core hours, expecting an average commitment of 40 hours per week.

  • We support professional development of our team members through career advisory and a learning stipend, reinforcing our culture of growth and skill-building.

DuckDuckGo does not work with any recruiting agencies or services. Instead, we work with each candidate one-on-one throughout a unique hiring process that we've built to reflect our company culture. DuckDuckGo provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment, and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. If you think you might thrive in this environment, we would love to hear from you.

Use the application to apply! Please note that:

  • A successful candidate will be subject to a background check.

  • By applying for this role, you confirm that information submitted is accurate and that you understand falsification is cause for denial of employment or termination.
